Former Director of the Health & Safety Executive
Jenny Bacon matriculated from New Hall in 1964, and achieved a First Class degree in History.
She joined the Civil Service as Assistant Principal, Ministry of Labour in 1967, and became Private Secretary to the Minister of State for Employment in 1971. By 1972, she was Principal, working on health and safety and industrial relations legislation, and became the Principal Private Secretary to the Secretary of State for Employment. Working through various governmental departments, Bacon was appointed Director of the Health & Safety Executive from 1995 to 2000. She has now retired.
